Rincon is a small tropical
town surrounded on three sides by ocean. The north coast and westerly
point offer world class surfing (which is the reason you will see a lot
of statesiders residing here), and on the south are the tranquil waters
of the Caribbean. Rincon offers: deep sea fishing, snorkeling/dive
trips, sunset cruises, sailing lessons or trips, and sun cat rentals.
Rincon also has English speaking church services, lots of outstanding
restaurants from Five Star to casual beachside dining, historical
landmarks, grocery stores and other small quaint shops.
15 minutes from Rincon is the city of Mayaguez with a population of
over 100,000. Mayaguez has everything anyone would need from shopping
malls to 11 screen movie theater (movies in English with captions in
Spanish), casinos, a wonderful zoo, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Sam's Wholesale
Club and everything else you would expect to find in a city of this
size in the states.
If you will be flying into Puerto Rico you
will have a few options.
1.) You may wish to fly into Aguadilla (BQN) about
20 minutes from Rincon, which is served by Continental, Delta, Jet
Blue, and Spirit, also Amervican Eagle offers shuttle service
from San Juan. Aguadilla has most major rental car companies at the
airport.
2.) Many prefer flying into San Juan (SJU) which
is served by all major airlines. Renting a car at the San Juan
airport and driving the 2 hour trip via all interstate and 4-lane
highways to Rincon.
3.) Another option is a connecting flight on Cape
Air from San Juan to Mayaguez (MAZ) airport which is 8 miles from
Rincon. Again, major car rental companies are represented at the
Mayaguez airport.
We must start with the beaches, and the beach to start
with is your own beach right outside your private balcony. But
should you choose to venture out from your own beach. . .
Rincon and Puerto Rico is famous for it's miles and miles
of beautiful beaches, and beachfront restaurants, and pubs, that are
unique and afford a wide range of fare for your enjoyment.
You can see much around historic Rincon, such as
tours in an old fashioned carriage, or if your interest in horses is
more active, you can ride the beaches with a horseback tour or visit
one of the local "Paso Fino" shows nearby.
Or just a short drive from your condo you can combine your
beach trip with historical sites such as the ruins of this
lighthouse.
Just moments from your condo is the famous El Faro
(lighthouse) of Rincon, set amid a beautiful park and a great place
to watch the surfers or view the migrating whales in season.
